Ortix 7.0

Mia, an agent for your whole Mac#
- Permission modes: Browser keeps Mia to your tabs, Ask asks before every tool, Computer works on its own and stops at anything dangerous, Unrestricted is your call, taken on purpose
- Mac control: with your permission, Mia can work on your Mac, not only in your tabs
- Sandboxed shell: Mia can run commands in a sandbox and shows you each one
- File edits with review: Mia can create and edit files, and every change waits for your review before it lands
- Workspaces: point Mia at a folder or a git project and it works inside it
- Task lists: for longer jobs Mia writes a to-do list, ticks it off as it goes and shows you where it is
- Every step in view: each action appears as it happens, and anything that cannot be undone asks first
Voice#
- Natural voice: Mia can answer out loud
- Dictation: speak instead of typing, in Mia and in the address bar
Grammar checker#
- Proofread, improve or summarize in any text field on any site, then keep the changes you want with one click
Media#
- Picture in Picture, rebuilt: leave a tab and its video follows you, with its own controls for play, pause, skip and return to the tab
- Audio mixer: every tab that makes sound gets its own volume in one place
- Real levels: the player and the mixer show live audio levels taken from the page itself
- Quick player: whatever is playing lives at the bottom of the sidebar with its artwork, and the sidebar's seam moves with the sound
Sidebar#
- Collapsed rail: fold the sidebar into a slim rail of icons, with flyouts that open without expanding it
- Detachable sidebar: tear it off and float it beside your window
- Space strip: every space is one click away above your tabs, each with its own colour
Split view#
- Up to four pages side by side in any layout, with draggable seams and swappable panes
Quick search#
- A new address bar that finds open tabs, history and bookmarks as you type, answers maths before you finish, and gets you there with one key
Performance#
- Local AI models run up to 50% faster than in Ortix 6
- Many smaller fixes and refinements throughout
Requires#
- macOS 26 or later, Apple silicon
Ortix 6.1
August 25, 2026
Light mode#
- Light, dark, or system. Pick the appearance you prefer in Settings, or let Ortix follow macOS and change with it
- Light done natively. Clean, neutral surfaces and crisp text, with Liquid Glass rendered for light. Ortix looks at home next to Safari and Finder
- Your colors, still yours. Space accent colors remain accents, so your spaces stay recognizable in either appearance
Built for MacBook Neo#
- Full support for MacBook Neo. Ortix runs and looks right on the newest Mac notebook from the moment you open it
Performance and efficiency#
- Faster, smoother browsing across tabs, spaces, and the sidebar
- Lower energy use and a lighter memory footprint, so more of your Mac stays free for everything else
Stability#
- Broad reliability improvements across the browser, with fixes for issues reported in 6.0
Requires#
- macOS 26 or later. Apple silicon
Ortix 6.0

Mia, rebuilt#
- A new AI engine. Mia runs on an entirely new assistant engine with a redesigned conversation loop, streaming, and tool system. Replies start faster, reasoning is kept separate from the answer, and long conversations stay coherent instead of drifting
- Agent mode. Ask Mia to do something rather than describe it. She can open and organize tabs, read and search the current page, fill forms, capture screenshots, search the web, work with your files, and run multi-step tasks to completion
- You approve every action. A permission center shows exactly what Mia is about to do before she does it, with per-tool approvals you can review or revoke at any time
- Run Mia entirely on your Mac. On-device models run locally through Apple silicon, so page content and conversations never leave your machine. Cloud models remain available when you want them
- Bring your own models. Connect Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, OpenRouter, and Ollama, and switch between them mid-conversation
- Memory and personalization. Mia can remember details you choose to save, and adapts her tone to a personality you pick
- Full-bleed conversations. The chat sidebar was redrawn for narrow widths. Bubbles and avatars are gone, so text starts at the edge and reading room is no longer spent on decoration
- Chat history. Past conversations are titled automatically, grouped by date, and searchable
- Attachments. Drop in images, documents, and page contents, and reference open tabs directly in the composer
A smoother sidebar#
- Move anything anywhere. Drag tabs freely between positions, into and out of splits, and across spaces
- Steadier and quicker. Reordering, splitting, and closing tabs feel smoother, with no flicker or jumps in long lists
Performance and reliability#
- Lower memory use with large numbers of open tabs, and faster recovery when a page stops responding
- More reliable Picture in Picture across multiple displays
- Faster, more accurate favicons and page titles
Requires#
- macOS 26 or later. Apple silicon
